About Our Adventure

Camping Love

Maybe we are crazy, but we have decided take on the ultimate challenge of hiking the Appalachian Trail from start to finish. This behemoth of an adventure will be undertaken from March 2015-October 2015. That’s right. 6 months of hiking. 6 months of mostly living outside, walking between 8-20 miles a day, and making our way from Georgia to Maine. This has been an adventure that we have been talking about for a while now, and I (Teresa, aka Moonbow) have personally been obsessing over for quite some time. I  read once that if the trail is eating away at your brain, you can’t stop ruminating on it….you just have to do it. At first I thought I would do it alone, but then realized I couldn’t imagine such a life changing experiencing without the person I love, and so Lisa (Lightning Bug) has signed up for 6 months of wilderness life, too.  We are both beyond excited for this adventure that will be unmatched by any in our lives to date. We are transitioning from Kansas City, where we have been happily living the past few years, to Minneapolis, where we have been wanting to live, and this transition is the time to take the leap and hike the trail. After this, who knows…marriage, kids, continually demanding careers….now is the time, and we are making it happen! You can follow our preparation and subsequent adventures here on our blog, which we will both contribute to . We will also conduct a small fundraising campaign for our effort via this blog, and hope that our friends and family will support our undertaking!
